Server 2019 Datacenter will not update

This is a virtual server, in AWS EC2, it is part of a patching group and has been since November.

Last 2 patch days this server has not patched and has given a Timeout error in AWS.

When logging into the server, it was sluggish, I tried to run systeminfo | find /i "boot time" thinking it had been a while, and the command never finished (one of my guys tested it too in their RDP same issue) and the updates section gave a generic error.
Rebooted it
Tried the updates and got this error "There were some problems installing updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800705b4)".

I checked event viewer for the patch times and there was nothing that indicated it even attempted to start, if I go back 3 patch days i find the normal references of starting completion rebooting etc. So it behaves as though it never received the request to run updates.
Went back into AWS Run Command and launched the patch manually from there, 2.5-3 hours later it said it failed due to Timeout.
Also cannot run patching manually on that system after the reboot.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Might try manual download and install the latest SSU

followed by the latest cumulative update.

So far, 1404 wont even install, just sits there "searching for updates on this computer" spun until it timed out. Didnt have a chance to test the other, but odds are i wont touch that until Monday as this is not critical. I will follow up Monday, thanks. Any other suggestions im happy to read and try them.

Dumb question, for a server in production, do I need to wait for after hours to do these? Not sure if it will bog anything down, or if there is a file that is repaired will it potentially cause issues with running processes?

Should be Ok to do but if repairs are made a reboot may be recommended.

OK, well it found errors and corrected them. Still reading your other link, the dsim command same question as the sfc, can that be run here and now safely? Should I do it now, or try patching again first?

I'd suggest a reboot after repairs then try again.

So far it appears to have worked. After a reboot, I was able to launch the patch process from AWS, and it worked. Thursday early AM is the day its automated patch group is run.
So it looks good, but I will be able to confirm it is resolved on Thursday morning.
