Blob Storage Backup

I have a client that requires a cloud based storage solution that a separately host cloud application will need access to via a URL. A blob storage container is the logical choice using API integration with SAS Keys to authenticate the apps access. My problem is that for compliance I need to be able to have a separate backup (not just redundancy). The app will not work with an Azure Fileshare so standard Backup Services Vault and backup policy won’t work. Is there another method / solution where I can back up the storage blob and have reports / analytics that will confirm this with external auditors?

Thanks in advance!
Gareth

Azure Backup does offer operational backup for Blob storage. Operational backup for Blobs integrates with Backup Center, among other Backup management capabilities, to provide a single pane of glass that can help you govern, monitor, operate, and analyze backups at scale.

Please check to see if this meets your use-case for compliance. If not, please let me know and I can work to see if there are other options that might suit your needs.

anonymous user Thanks for raising this question! Firstly, apologies for the delay in responding here and any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Adding more information to @deherman-MSFT Recently we previewed an operational backup solution, however this does not store a separate copy of data- the backup data is stored as versions in the same storage account. We are currently working on a hardened backup solution where an entirely separate 'backup' copy of data is maintained- this is expected to preview around Q4 of this CY.

For now you can explore use of Object Replication from blobs.

If you wish you may leave your feedback here. All the feedback you share in these forums will be monitored and reviewed by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for building Azure.

Hope this helps!
