Azure Vault throttling errors when deleting old backup data

I am deleting an Azure Vault using this how-to guide: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-delete-vault

On Step 3, for Cloud Protected Items, when I select roughly more than 10 SQL database backups, all of the delete jobs fail with the following message:

'Microsoft.RecoveryServices/vaults/backupOperations/read' exceeded the limit of '150' for time interval '01:00:00'. Please try again after '324' seconds.

All of the jobs after this message will fail and have to be re-submitted.

This is a more common task than might be expected. For example, when re-working a vault to segregate LRS and GRS backup items, it's necessary to completely re-build one or more vaults, and those can each contain several dozen databases.

Is there a way to adjust the threshold for throttling in a subscription, similar to increasing quotas?

Is there a different process to remove old cloud backups that will not trigger this type of throttling behavior?

@Jw-1897 Thank you for reaching out to us!

We have seen a similar issue, while deleting data on the Vault, however, even though we are getting the error message about throttling, the data essentially is being deleted and it will be removed from the Backup Items.

Have you observed a different behavior or expecting it to be different?
