Excel online workbook cache local file which is password protected

Hi all,

We are going through the process of moving our files to sharepoint, a few of our workbooks are linked to other workbooks which are all password protected.

When I open Workbook 1 which is linked to workbook 2 it asks me for the password to open the workbook which is fine, but after opening because it is linked to workbook 2 it presents another popup asking to enter password but its for a local cached file located in INETCache\Content.MSO

Now i know the password and which workbooks are linked to each other, but others certainly do not..... how do we stop this local caching from happening?

@JasonLevy-9876

I want to confirm some information.

When you open workbook2 in the workbook1, whether the popup loads a input password interface of a local cached file?

Whether your requirement is that no password is required when you open workbook1 and workbook2?

When i open workbook 2 which is linked to workbook 1 it prompts for a password, the password is inputted and accepted and then when you go to update links then it prompts you with another password of which it looks to be of a local cached file as like in the image posted above.
The issue is fine considering there are only 2 workbooks and 1 password, but the issue resides when workbook 1 is linked to more than one workbook eg: workbook 2 / workbook 3 / workbook 4

Whether your requirement is that no password is required when you open workbook1 and workbook2?

No passwords have to stay, just not that it appears as a local cached file prompting for a password after updating links
