shares reporting tool

Does any one know of a free reporting tool with a user interface that can be run remotely against a server and produce the share and directory permissions, as the old legacy MBSA tool used to do, e.g.

Most free security permissions reporting tools only seem to give the NTFS settings, and overlook the share permissions. Having both levels of permissions side by side would be useful for analysis.

You don't need any third party tools and you may do it using MMC. Follow these steps:
1) Open start and search for MMC and open it.
2)Go to File->Add/Remove Snap-in...
3) In the Available Snap-in list select Shared folder and click Add and then press okay
4) It will ask you want to be local computer or another computer and when you select Another computer select it from the list or add the IP Address and when you press okay, you will see the list for the remote computer.

I followed your advice and although it lists the shares, it doesn't show the share and directory ACL's for each share in that list? I couldn't see anywhere where you could add in additional fields into the listed which may be what you were referencing, but either way it doesn't cover what I need unfortunately, only half the information in one place, which was a single report of all shares on the server, and their share and directory ACL.

Hi,
Thank you for posting in our forum

Reza tells you how to use third-party software.

Below I recommend some third-party software for you. You can choose the one that is more suitable for you according to your needs. The following is a tool from

Microsoft for you to refer to. At the same time, there are some other third-party software in the connection. , You can choose according to your needs

As there’s no built-in way to quickly view user accesses to a tree of directories or keys, Microsoft Windows SysInternals tools may come handy. AccessEnum is one of SysInternals tools which gives you a full view of your file system and Registry security settings in seconds, and provides a table view of all permissions on your file share or registry. However, you can export only to .txt format, which is rather complicated to read. If you want the information in .xls format, you’ll need to copy it from the .txt file manually.

AccessEnum and the NFTS Permissions Reporter don't seem to show the share ACL, only the directory ACL (NTFS). As per the question, I need a report with both information 'side by side', as the MBSA scanner used to produce.
