Exchange Hybrid Server Limitations

Hi,

What are the Exchange hybrid server license limitations? Can we host few mailboxes on the server? Can we off-board mailboxes to on-premises server? Is there any Microsoft article mentioning these ?

Mr.POP

You can not move any mailboxes to a server running the free hybrid license if that is what you are asking:
https://practical365.com/how-to-licence-exchange-hybrid-servers/

If you are running Exchange Server 2010, 2013, 2016 or 2019 then you already have Exchange Hybrid capabilities built in to your Exchange Servers today.

It’s important to note that when you add Exchange Hybrid servers to your Exchange 2003/2007 organization you cannot move any mailboxes to the servers if you wish to qualify for a “free” Exchange Hybrid licence. That means you can’t (for example) stage mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 first, before moving them to Office 365.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your reply.

Limitations as in things which we cannot do with Exchange hybrid license like hosting mailboxes.
Wonder why there isn't any Microsoft article regarding these?

Ok, see this: Move mailboxes between on-premises and Exchange Online organizations in hybrid deployments
With an Exchange-based hybrid deployment, you can choose to either move on-premises Exchange mailboxes to the Exchange Online organization or move Exchange Online mailboxes to the Exchange organization.

The third-party site link would be more specific, seems you only want to know if it's supported by Microsoft? The answer is yes.
