Hello,

We have Office Volume license. And We implement SharePoint 2019. When I try to Open Excel files on SharePoint I receive attached error. I analyzed file path its 309 character. But No problem on Word ,PowerPoint and etc files.
Then I delete my Office. And install Office 2019 Retail and tried to open same Excel file its works.

So What is difference Volume Licence and Retail Licence .

Hi @YakupAkpnar-1585

So What is difference Volume Licence and Retail Licence .

<< From the perspective of Office, the biggest difference between volume licensed version and retail version of Office is mainly the activation method. There is no difference in functionality between the two versions.
From my opinion, whether Office is volume licensed version or retail version may not be the root cause of this issue.

Based on my research, this official article Error message when you open or save a file in Microsoft Excel: "Filename is not valid" recommended that the path to the file better contains fewer than 219 characters.
Generally, if file path/name contains more than 218 characters, no matter Volume Licence or Retail Licence, an error will occur.

You could try the following to check the result.
1. Try to save the Excel file to a local location.
2. Try to save the file as another file format like .xls.
3. Copy the file to another computer with volume licensed version of Office 2019.

Besides, please make sure your temp folder exists and is not full to check this issue.

Hope the information could be helpful to you.

Hello erinding-msft,

Thank you for your answer.
I tried your recommendations but not success.
When I try to oepn with Office 2019 Retail Version 2008 - 20616 it works.
But when I try Office 2019 Volume Licence Version 1808-20050 and lastest update versions it now work.

Regards.
