edge managed favorites in active dir. domain via gpo not updating loading

months ago i activated the managed favorites gpo succsesfully as a computer policy in our domain. we use chromium edge.

the fav. folder appeard in edge as expected.

now i added some new bookmarks to the html file that uses the gpo, and nothing happend. nu update.

i made a new bookmark file, imported the newest admx files ecc.

edge isn´t updating. alway shows the old favs.

when i disable the managed favorites option, favs are gone.

i saved a new html file to the share where gpo picks it, but no result.

when i look in the registry of the computer, (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge) i see that the gpo´s are applied, path´s are correct with the new file.

there is also a path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge

where under internet settings\provisionedfavorites i see the correct favs.

but in edge the fav folder is not visible.

i also tried to make a registry entry hidefirstrunexperience, cause i red this maybe prevent the favs being loaded.

but no result.

what is wrong?

tx for any help

Hi @qpix666-2416
Are you editing this policy to change the favorites? I try to enable the policy and change the Configure favorites value, it can change the managed favorites in Edge.
Why are you using a html file to manage the favorites? It seems that we only need to set the favorites value directly in the policy like this:

Could you please provide more details about how you set and change the policy and what value you use to configure the favorites? You can use some screenshots to help clarify more clearly.

I also configured this policy as a test. but didn´t work.
but this setting is for legay edge i guess and we use the new chromium.
the path to html file is described in policy, and worked as expected. once.
but when i tried to update the html file with new bookmarks i saw the the update isn´t working.
and now managed favs don´t showing up at all.
I´m also confusing why in the registry the policy is loading but in edge not visible?

I configured the policys in computerconfig\admin.templ\windows comp.\micr. edge\provision fav.

the configure home button and fav. bar are working as expected.

just fav´s not in either way. via html file or as a list like [{"toplevel_name": "Verwaltete Favoriten..........ecc..

Hi @qpix666-2416

Now I think I know where the problem is. Don't worry and I'll help you.

I'm using chromium Edge too. I test with Edge version 90.0.818.56.

This policy Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge/Configure favorites is for chromium Edge which supported versions is Edge on Windows and macOS since 77 or later.
The policy you mentioned computerconfig\admin.templ\windows comp.\micr. edge\provision fav is for legacy Edge which supported version is Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, Version 1709 or later.

Please use policy ManagedFavorites if you're using chromium Edge. You can use the example value in the doc to make a test, just copy and paste the following value into the Options value in the policy and test again:

 [{"toplevel_name": "My managed favorites folder"}, {"name": "Microsoft", "url": "microsoft.com"}, {"name": "Bing", "url": "bing.com"}, {"children": [{"name": "Microsoft Edge Insiders", "url": "www.microsoftedgeinsider.com"}, {"name": "Microsoft Edge", "url": "www.microsoft.com/windows/microsoft-edge"}], "name": "Microsoft Edge links"}]

The result is like this:
