SCCM restart deadline without a logged in user

Hi,

I have some questions about the SCCM restart deadline.

  1. What happens when the deadline comes and there is no user connected to the device, will the restart be done anyway?

  2. What happens when the deadline arrives and there is a user connected in locked screen status?

  3. In the case that the deadline is set to 21:00 and a user connects to the device at 20:58. Will it only show the countdown for 2 minutes or will the countdown start again with the user connection?

  4. What happens when the computer is in sleep mode and opens after the deadline? Will it restart immediately or will the countdown begin?

Thanks
Rash

Deadlines are deadlines... unless you configured grace period.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/clients/deploy/about-client-settings#grace-period-for-enforcement-after-deployment-deadline-hours

The best way to answer your questions..
setup test machines and test each scenario so you can see for yourself the exact end user experence.

Here is an answer to your question that hopefully you find helpful!
Agree with what GaryBlok said.
In addition, this situation depends on if we deploy to the user collection and if we select "Only when a user is logged on" in User Experience>Logon requirement during deployment.
If we do not have this configuration, whether or not the user is logged on has no effect on the restart deadline.
If we deploy to the user collection or the users. If user is logged in countdown will prompt them with the timer and whatever message we've included, if user isn't logged in, the timer is skipped and the machines restarts.

The only thing that changes based on a user logged in or not is whether the restart countdown (configured in client settings and deployed to the device) is triggered or not when a restart is required. No logged in user = no restart countdown.

Locked screen still equals a user logged on so that doesn't change anything. And, as Gary noted, a deadline is a deadline with only a grace period altering when the deadline is enforced if the grace period criteria are met.
