Any way to get a report of computer ages?

Hi,

I have been googling for a way to get the manufacturing dates of our computers in SCCM to determine how old they are. I've run into some posts about Hardware 2A/B "estimate computer age", but I don't have those 2 reports in my SCCM\Reporting.

I can't seem to find this info anywhere, or that I don't know what to query to get accurate results.

How do I get the age of my SCCM computers?

Thank you!

those report have long ago been removed. if you are looking for computer age, you will look for third party tools for this.

With Dell, if you have Dell Command Monitor installed, you can add additional hardware inventory to collection some of that information and create custom reports. This would be all work you'd have to do to pull the data into CM, then build the reports.

What Manufacturer are you running? I'm guessing HP and Lenovo would have their own WMI namespace that tracks that information, but those too, you'd need to build everything custom.

Please remember that you still have a capability to track down the OS installation date. It will not tell you exactly the age of the hardware, but gives you some insights about the environment. And when Windows 10 is being upgraded to new build, the OS installation date will be re-written to the current date.

Here is an answer to your question that hopefully you find helpful!
Agree with what XinGuo-MSFT said, in addition, we may also try to refer to the solution provided by TH0MA5 in this article:https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/12105-hardware-age-report/ (Third-party link, just for your reference.)

Both are bad solutions for accurate reporting. (XinGuo-MSFT & SunnyNui-MSFT's Suggestions). BIOS date changes with every BIOS update, and you should be updating your BIOS!

Garth is right, you need to do additional work to get the data you want. It isn't natively available, you can't run another query and get the report you want. Either YOU have to put in a lot of leg work to get accurate data, by installing tools on devices from the vendors that surface the data, then collect custom inventory, or you pay someone to do that work for you.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions! If it is no longer available in SCCM (per GarthJones-MVP), I will estimate the age using info in our AD, the join date. I thought there would be a more straight forward approach in SCCM.

Much appreciate your quick responses!

Just keep in mind that the AD join date maybe way off, particularly if you refresh the computer and have to delete it first from AD.

yes I am aware of that and we do refresh computers and rejoin, but my boss said he would know when he got the list. Thank you much!
