Split domain between Exchange Server and Office 365

Hi,

Good Day!

May I ask how can I configure the split domain between Exchange Server 2013 and Office 365? Because we will upgrade from Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange Server 2019 and we will upgrade also the AD before configuring the Hybrid Setup.

How can I setup the mail flow while waiting the upgrading of AD is to be done before doing the Hybrid Setup?

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi @RaymondSupilanas-4061 ,
In order to better solve this issue, I want to comfirm with you what is your purpose of splitting the domain? And how to split it? For example, do you mean to split one domain into two different domains, and then only configure the Exchange server in one domain when deploying the Hybrid environment?

Hi Lucas,

Good Day!

I have one domain that will configure in Exchange Server 2019 and Office 365.

We have environment of Hybrid Setup of Office 365 and Exchange Server 2013. We will upgrading the Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange Server 2019. Before upgrading we will cut the Hybrid Setup and disable the AD Connect.

Or do you have an idea how can we perform the upgrade from Exchange Server 2013 with Hybrid Setup to Exchange Server 2019.

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi @RaymondSupilanas-4061 ,
Do you means that you want to upgrade on-premises Exchange in Hybrid environment from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019?
I found some articles that guide the process, you can refer to them, although the articles cover Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016. But the process is similar for Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019.

Hi Lucas,

Good Day!

Yes. We will upgrade the Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange Server 2019 with existing Hybrid Setup.

May I ask if you have already encountered this setup?

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi @RaymondSupilanas-6595 ,
Due to environmental constraints, I have not tried an upgrade specific to Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019 in a hybrid deployment. But according to my other upgrade practices, and studied similar cases and articles. I think you can follow the steps in the link provided above to upgrade.
But it should be noted that during the upgrade process, please ensure that your environment meets the deployment of Exchange 2019.

Hi Lucas,

Good Day!

May I ask your thought if do I need to disabled the AD Sync and Hybrid Setup before upgrading Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange Server 2019.

Or can I directly install the Exchange Server 2019 and configure the SCP of Exchange Server 2013 and Exchange Server 2019? After that I will transfer the Hybrid setup from Exchange Server 2013 to Exchange Server 2019.

Thanks,
Raymond
