windows 10 vm licencing question

I got windows 10 home 64 bit with my Dell laptop which I upgraded to windows 10 pro 64 bit with a windows 10 pro retail key which I bought online. If I want to create a windows 10 pro vm under the windows hypervisor on the same laptop. Must I purchase another windows 10 licence or can I use my existing windows 10 pro licence? When I googled it it says that the windows 10 licence is bound to the motherboard. Does the windows 10 hypervsor vm consider it to be the same motherboard?

Hi,

I phoned Microsoft's tech support and they say I need another licence to run the virtual machine on my windows laptop. I also read online it has to be a windows retail key. In other words I must purchase another windows 10 pro or home retail key to run in the virtual machine. It does not matter whether I am using hypervisor or virtual box.

Yes, that sounds correct.
