Server Foundation 2013 and Coauthoring

We have a provider that is using SharePoint Foundation 2013, and our users are having difficulty with CoAuthoring documents. In Office 365, the users can see each other in the document, and they are able to edit the same paragraph. Also, it autosaves without the users having to do anything. In the solution that our provider has, our users cannot edit docs easily, and they have to "save". Is this a limitation to Server Foundation 2013? Or any On Prem server? Would we basically have to have Office 365 in order to do seamless coauthoring?

@AmberJones-0080

The feature "Collaboration" that allows users to see each other in the document, users are able to edit the same paragraph and it autosaves without clicking save is only available in the office 365.

In the SharePoint server, you need to click save to save changes.

To co-authoring, I suggest you use office 365.
