Since Cumulative Update 2021-04, any update failed with 0x800f0831

Hi,

since Cumulative Update 2021-04, any Cumulated Update for 20H2 failed with 0x800f0831 and I'm not able to find the solution also by downloading the KB's (e. g. KB5003137) manually.

The CBS.log:

Nothing above did help. Finally, only the In-place update with 21H1 solved the problem.

In case problem didn't solved, open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and report this issue.

Hi vro,
Please run Windows Update troubleshooter firstly, this tool will diagnose and try to repair issue automatically.
After troubleshooter, use another browser (i use Chrome) to download KB5003173 from here, after click Download button, you still need to click windows10.0-kb5003173-x64_4e3b4345ad6e3bf44183d6f25879a0c5ca1b7ef9.msu link.

Once KB standard package download, run it to install update, please wait patiently, this KB cost many time to install.

the troubleshooter did not recognize any problem since then, and several manuel downloads I tried fail as expected with the same error.

Reset windows update components manully

Then manually install KB package
