SSAS crashes when deploying

Guys,

I started experiencing a strange problem, when I try to deploy to my cube server. When I try to deploy, sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it ends with this message "The connection either timed out or was lost." and crashes SSAS so I have to start the service manually... my SSAS is 2016 and the version is 13.0.5850.14, see below the entries in msmdsrv.log.

Does anyone have an idea regarding how to troubleshoot this intermittent issue?

Thanks in advance, Zeev

Hi,

Actually, this kind of info could not show the cause of the issue. I suggest you try upgrade you server to newest 5001092 Cumulative update 17 (CU17) for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2

If the issue still exists, you could try contect MS support and open a ticket to fully investigate the SSAS server.

Regards,
Lukas

Hi Lukas.,

I know I did not provide much information but for the fact that it is intermittent and that it stops SSAS, but I have one last and important thing
I forgot to mention, and that is that this seems to happen when deploying one particular SSAS solution.

To explain, I have 4 other SSAS solutions that seems to deploy without any issues.... to me that suggests something in that specific SSDT solution and I do not know how to troubleshoot that...

Ever see that happen in a SSDT solution or have any idea on how to troubleshoot SSDT?

Thanks, Zeev

Hi Zeev,

Sorry for late reply , but we rarely see any particular cube could crash the server.

Does this solution has any special or unqiue design or others?

If it is irregular happenning, I would suggest you to open a ticket with Microsoft to fully check your server and projects. You could try reach them at Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/assistedsupportproducts
