Azure point to site and site to site accessing on premises slow ping

Hi Everyone

I have just setup an Azure site to site VPN and also setup point to site VPN.

Everything is routing correctly and everything is accessible as expected.

However, if I connect as a client with point to site and then ping anything on premises the ping is sitting around 170-200ms

Can someone help please?

@KevinTalbot-7596 Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

I understand that you are facing high Round Trip Time(RTT) when pinging from a P2S VPN client to Azure network. Can you please let me know the following details-

  1. Where is the source for the ping i.e., the location of the client machine?

  2. Which region in Azure network are you pinging?

  3. If you ping from that same client machine to the same Azure network &location without P2S VPN i.e., via internet to a public IP, what is the RTT time seen?

RTT time depends upon the distance between the source and destination, the connection betwen the source & destination and many other things. Please let me know the above details so we can further investigate why this is happening. Thank you!
