Restored volume is smaller and less files

Have tried to restore files/folders from an Azure cloud backup but when the restore job is completed, there are fewer files and folders and total size is smaller than the originally selected files/folders. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can verify that all the files/folders I selected for backup actually are backed up? Do I have to read through the backup logs somehow or some other trick?

Thank you!

@SysAdmin-2144 Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A community forum.

I apologize for the delayed response!

With MARS agent backup, you get incremental restore, so you would only see those files getting restored which was backed up on that particular day - they are point in time restores.

You can can do instant restore to mount a particular recovery point(RP) and understand what is available under that RP and then actually trigger a volume restore - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-restore-windows-server
