96670-javascriperrorteams.png

Many of our users start getting this when reboot the laptop and reopen Teams
Javascrip error occurred in the main process.
Uncaught Exception:

We tried to uninstalled Teams, delete Teams folder in Appdata. Redownload fresh install from Office. (Issue still persist)

Had anyone having this issue ? If so what are the other way to address it?

Hi there,
yep, having the same issue.
We suppose this happens when default folders like "Downloads" are redirected, e.g. aren't really on your local drive but on a network share, eg the personal drive in a company.

Maybe check if the download folder is redirected too

I was never get a chance to really test one of those. I think our users got away with just clicking OK on the error and Teams will still working. I'm keeping this threat just in case one of those problem come back to us so I can then try these methods you suggested. Thank you so much .

Regard,

Hello @MaiAiden-5620 ,

I'd go for the download location as I have mentioned in my comment. So check where the default download folder points to. If it wa/is a network share which is now not accessible for your users you may have this phenomenon.
If you are able to change the path to a local folder, reboot your client and start Teams everything will be probably fine.

Regards,
Dirk

This seem only happens to our remote user whom are on the VPN. Download folder usually backed up to our server, but all of the sudden they're getting this error upon turning on the laptop. After they click OK and close this out then Teams performing normally. But it kind of annoying when it does this everytime.
I will try your suggestion and keep updates.

Thanks

I got today on two notebooks the same issue.
On one i was able to resolve the problem as it looks with uninstall and install Teams new.
But on the other it is not working.
And yea, we have a Folderredirection for the Download folder in our Policy and on the new Notebooks no second Partition exist where the policy show up for the download folder.
But this was working now for month so, and no problem. And now it won't work anymore?
Is some strange in my opinion.

Also Strange is, that it has worked with a new installation of Teams on the first one.
But maybe the profile is corrupt of the user?

We observe the same problem, when Teams is started automatically and the VPN connection has not been established yet. Due to the GPO settings our download path is set to a network drive that does not exist before the VPN connection is established.

When Teams tries to access the download path the Javascript error occures.

This behaviour (Teams trying to access the download path during startup) can be observed since one or two month now. We didn´t have this problem before.

I've seen his issue too. There was an update of Teams in early May which appears to have changed Teams to verify the location of the Downloads folder before it launches. If the location of the Downloads folder is on an unavailable network share then you receive this error. Changing the location to the local device resolves the issue, as does restoring access to the required network location.

The tricky part is when it is a Folder Redirection policy that has set the location and your staff are now working remotely without a VPN...

Note, there are similar errors to this one that have other fixes but this one specifically references that it's failed to get 'downloads' path.
