Device network problem with HyperV

I have a laptop with Windows 10 Pro for Workstations and after installing HyperV and creating VM, my network speed went down drastically. When I create a virtual network device Hyper V creates a Bridge, after that my speed is affected in VM and Host also. I uninstall HyperV and my network speed went back to normal.

Normal download speed: 200 mbps, upload speed: 90 mbps
Affected download speed: 30 mbps, upload speed: .7 mbps

Wireless device is more affected than wired device, but both are affected.

Can you help me?

Hi Danny:

Unfortunally no. I just verified the problem is present only in wireless network. I create wired and wireless exacly with the same process.

Also, I checked in a second PC (PC1 is Dell 7750 windows pro for WS and PC2 is a MSI windows pro). In both PCs is present the same problem. Wireless speed go down to .7 mbps.

If the Virtual device is erased and the Virtual switch is not present in windows the speed is correct.

Do you know any information can help me?

Regards

Known issue. It's been around for a long time.
There are various work-arounds on random forums that give varying results of success based on your setup.
Setting up a bridge used to work, but that's built in with the Wifi virtual switch now, and seems to be of no help any longer.

Other options:
Only use the default switch, the external switch seems to be the most negatively affected.
Use wired for your VMs, the speed hit only affects wireless networks.
Use an Intel wireless NIC, these seem to be least affected by the speed hit, Realteks seem to be the most negatively affected.
Add a second wireless NIC for your host or VM and use one for the host and one for VMs.

Hi,
Based on your description, I’m assuming that this issue might concern virtual switches. Did you use any external switch so that the VMs would have access to the internet?
For your reference:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v-virtual-switch/hyper-v-virtual-switch
Also try turning Hyper-V manager off if you don’t need it.

Hope this will help,
Best regards,
Danny

Hi Alejandro,
Based on your description, since the creation is correct, and there’s no problem with the wired network, maybe you should check the hardware.
Would you check the router and see if there’s any problem?

Thanks for your time.
Best regards,
Danny
