forwarding to external email using rules

I would like to forward all messages from google voice to an external email. I am currently forwarding to an internal email and have set up the rule.

Create a contact in Outlook or the external google voice number and change the rule to forward to that.

Hi @LynnJohnston-0301,

What's the account that your are using(microsoft 365 account, outlook.com account or gmail account)?

As I know, if your account/organization supports external-forward, we could forward the message to external email directly via the Outlook rule. Based on my tests on Outlook 2019 with my outlook.com account, I tried to create a rule to forward the message from a specific user to my external gmail account, it could work normally there , for your reference, here is the detailed information of my rule:

If you still have any problems about how to create this rule, or it couldn't work normally after you created the rules, please provide us with more information about your issues.

I am using a 365 account through outlook. Will forward to members in my organization, but not outside the org.

Hi @LynnJohnston-0301,

Thanks for your update.

Do you mean that you have set up a rule to forward the message outside your organization but it couldn't work normally? If so, what's the specific NDR information that you received?

As I know, if your organization couldn't support auto-forward, you would receive a NDR with the error "5.7.520". If it's your case, it's suggested to contact your admin to enable the auto-forwarding option, for more information, please refer to this article : Control automatic external email forwarding in Microsoft 365

If that's not your case or your issue has any update, please feel free to post back.
