When Configuring DNS records, Can I cheat?

Instead of reconfiguring all the dns records, can't I just give my 2019EX the IP of my Old 2013EX?

Thanks, B

IF the Exch 2013 server still has Exchange installed on it , then no you dont want to do this, unless you want to also change the IP on the 2013 server.
It will make things messy.

Yes you can.
Exchange doesn't care about the IP address. Therefore changing the IP address and rebooting the server will not be an issue.
Changing the name on the other hand would be a major problem, as that will break Exchange.

I basically want to just make the new exchange server = to the old exchange servers IP...however it would appear I am supposed to do the dns and then the user mailbox move...

so not sure it's the best way to go...

Do that after you move mailbloxes from 2013 to 2019 and have removed Exchange 2013 from the old server.

gotcha.
At that point it's a moot point for me, was hoping to avoid some config changes. But seems liek even if I change the dns the 2019 will proxy for the 2019 so all should still work as is.

If thats a correct assumption, then I'll just keep the ip's as is.
