SharePoint 2013 Site IIS Settings Authentication for Anonymous Set to "Disable" Impacts

We had SharePoint 2013 farm and integrate with other applications. One of the requirement for integration is disable "Anonymous" authentication for SharePoint portal site. Current web application Claim Authentication Type is Kerberos setup in SharePoint Central admin. We would like to know if change the value from Enable for Anonymous to Disable if:

  1. Any security concerns need to be aware?

  2. Any impacts to SharePoint features/functionalities?

  3. Any MS official documents explain how Anonymous authentication works in SharePoint

Thanks

Hello @TeeNguyen-1489 ,

If you disable Anonymous Authentication for the website in IIS, the SharePoint sites will lose functionality to save properties/meta data for documents(i.e., Title, Security Attributes, other customized column data, etc.).

Here is a similar case for your reference:

You can read this post to enable/disable anonymous authentication for SharePoint web applications in IIS.

Thanks,
Echo Du
