Use Microsoft Authenticator for Two Factor Authentication

Hi,

Some members of my team keep failing to login on Microsoft Azure because the system does not send a notification of Two Factor Authentication on the Microsoft Authenticator. They tried to log-in multiple times it still does not work.
So one them deleted the application and reinstalled it, but still failed to login. The other one deleted the authentication information and re-register the authenticaion, but he failed as well.

What might be the causes for this issue? and how can I solve this issue?
Moreover, in the worst case of scenario, I would like to deactivate the Two Factor Authentication for all the members in the company. How can I deactivate the Two Factor Authentication?

It would be really helpful if anyone can provide me some ideas for it.

Hello @YONGHAPARK-7329,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please confirm, whether users facing issue just with Authenticator app? or even they don't receive a text or voice call that contains the verification code for Azure Multi-Factor Authentication? if so I would recommend you to try this resolution.

There are only two ways to enable and disable Azure MFA in AAD.

  1. Using Conditional Access policies

  2. Using the MFA service portal

If the MFA for the users have been enabled using the CA policy, then it can be disabled only through the CA policy and if its enabled through the MFA service portal, then you can go to the service portal and select the users for whom you want the MFA to be disabled.

Please find following article which has more troubleshooting scenarios.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the reply.
They are facing this issue on Authnticator app, moreover, they don't receive a text or voice call that contains the verification code,
Attached image is the message that one of my colleagues received from the Authenticator app.

I've check the "Multi-Factor Authntication" page and I found out that I have deactivated Multi-Factor Authentication already (I only tried the second solution that you provided me since I have never set Any Conditional Access Policies).

Could you please support me further on this case?
