Printing through RDP using an Okidata 320 turbo printer distorts the font character

I was using a windows 7 Pro desktop as a "mainframe" that I would log into using RDP. I was able to print on my destination computer using my Okidata 320 turbo just fine for 7 years. I needed to upgrade to a different computer that now has windows 10 Pro. When I try to print now, the font and shape of the actual characters are now almost blurry. Some of the pixels / dots are missing. Most characters are unrecognizable. I tried uploading different drivers from okidata ml 320 all the way to the okidata ml 321. Each driver produced the same distorted letters and numbers. When I tried to print to my okidata on the local machine, the letters were perfectly clear, with nothing missing( dots/pixels). What am I missing?? Is this some problem with windows 10 and Remote Desktop, because windows 7 gave me no issues??

1.Is your Okidata 320 turbo printer connected to win7 or win10 computer directly(physically) now?

Okidata 320 is directly connected to the work station computer (windows 10 home)
No printer is connected to the remote computer(windows 10 pro)
Not using the win 7 computer anymore

2.Which condition do you have?
(1)Do you connected Okidata 320 turbo printer to win7 directly then remote access win10 ?
(2)Do you remote access from win10 to win7 computer(Okidata 320 turbo printer is installed on win7 physically)

Not using the windows 7 pro computer anymore

Okidata 320 printer is directly connected to the work station computer(win 10 home)
When I am remotely connected to the remote computer(win 10 pro) and try to print to the Okidata 320(which is directly connected to the work station computer) from any program on the remote computer, the printer prints the type in the correct location, BUT the pixels and or characters are partially missing which makes the letters and numbers appear blurry and distorted.

3."OKI MICROLINE 320 Turbo" is your problematical printer model?

Yes, this is the only printer that had this issue. If I use any other LaserJet, inkjet, etc. printer through RDP, I do not have any issues. The print output is in the correct positions and crystal clear as if the printers were directly connected

As a side note, when I use a program on the work station computer and try to print to the Okidata 320, the print comes out all in the proper order and is crystal clear, so it is not an issue with the okidata printer itself. Something is happening when I try to print through remote desktop and the printer is actually redirected through RDP. When I had my original remote computer setup, it was a windows 7 pro version. I had no issues printing through RDP using the Okidata 320 printer. This issue only happened when I needed to switch to windows 10 pro edition.

HI mjc-8723,

Thanks for explaining your issue clearly.
1.I still think the remote win10 pro may be not using correct printer driver for redirected Okidata 320 turbo printer. Is it using easy printer driver for this redirected Okidata 320 turbo printer now like picture?

2.Is it possible to install Okidata 320 turbo printer to win10 pro directly?
We need to install Okidata 320 turbo printer on win10 pro directly so that win10 pro can recognize correctly driver. Then check if it can work fine on win10 pro directly.
If the printer is connected to win10 pro directly and can work fine, we can enter gpedit.msc in CMD to open local policy. try to set "use remote desktop easy print printer driver first" as "disabled"

local computer policy\computer configuration\administrative templates\windows components\remote desktop services\remote desktop session host\printer redirection
"use remote desktop easy print printer driver first" set "disabled"

3.Did you install ESC/P Printer Driver with Version: 1.15 on both win10 home and win10 pro?

ESC/P Printer Driver with Version: 1.15 for MICROLINE 320 TURBO

Disabling the "use remote desktop easy print driver first" is what made it work correctly

For anyone else having this same issue using windows 10 as a remote computer, here is what I did:

  1. I installed the correct windows 10 driver for the okidata 320 directly from okidata's website
I did this on both the remote computer (win 10 pro) and the off site computer (win 10 home)

  2. I then went through the directions given to me and disabled the "use remote desktop easy print driver first"

  3. Then I logged into the remote computer and erased the redirected printer. This was the printer driver that was "use remote desktop easy print driver first". When I tried to print initially, doing steps 1 and 2, I still wasn't getting the right printing output from the okidata. Once I erased this redirected printer, and logged back into the remote computer (win 10 pro), the only driver left for the okidata was the correct one that I had downloaded. This then became my redirected printer when using remote desktop.
