Windows Update Ring

Hi Experts,

I have created an Intune Windows update ring which I am using for deploying quality and feature updates.
Configuration Details:
1. Servicing channel - Semi-annual
2. Zero deferral period for Quality update and Feature Update.
3. Update behavior - Auto install and restart at maintenance time

I have few queries :
Feature Update Windows 10 build 21H1 was available from 18th May,2021 in Semi-annual channel.
But still the Feature update is not getting installed automatically to the devices added in the Ring.
We have verified all the update policies are managed by MDM and all the registries are also correct.

FYI , we are facing this issue for first time as earlier all the feature updates were getting installed automatically.
Can you please update me if i am missing any important details ?

From your description, I know that the update policy is managed by MDM and the registries are correct. Given this situation, it may not be directly related to Intune, but more likely an issue with the Windows client or an associated configuration in the environment.

It is needed to check the background information to confirm the root cause, such as do the log analysis. With Q&A limitation, it is better to create an online support ticket to handle this issue more effectively. It is free. Here is the online support link:

Do you have any deadlines configured in your ring? Have you tested adding a deadline and grace period?

No, i haven't configured deadline settings in the ring.
Will it be effective in resolving my issue ?

Setting a deadline means that the update will be installed outside of the maintenance time. I would suggest instead of modifying an existing production update ring, create a test ring for a test device and monitor it. See https://www.larsinus.com/?p=277 for a good post.

yes, i have created a test ring adding few of our testing devices. Will keep updated if it worked or not.
