WMVCORE.DLL could not be found in Win10

Hi Experts,

This is Felix, QA from Autodesk. These days, we met a problem that WMVCORE.DLL could not be found in WIN10 after some update. But it cannot be reproduced in all machines.
After this dll file is lost

  • We tried to add "Media Features" in windows features dialog, but it is not listed there.

  • We tried to restore windows, but it doesn't fix the dll file lost.

  • Then we tried to add windows media player in option features, but the installation quit automatically without any error message.

Since wmvcore.dll is a necessary file in our software, is there a way to add it back?

Up to 10 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 3.0 MiB each and 30.0 MiB total.

Searching around it seems to be a common problem that has the recommendation to use various DISM commands and/or install the "Windows Media Feature Pack" - though there are many replies that say they do/don't work.
If they don't work for you, I think you'll need an official (paid) MS support call.

Hi,
Would you check if the Win10 is up-to-date?
Also you might want to check the event logs and see if there’s any detailed information that might cause this to happen. You may provide the error screenshots so that we can take a look if you want.

Since log analysis is not within the forum scope, I would suggest you contact Microsoft Customer Support and Services where more in-depth investigation can be done so that you would get a more satisfying explanation and solution to this issue. In addition, if the issue has been proved as system flaw, the consulting fee would be refund. You may find phone number for your region accordingly from the link below.

Thanks for your time.
