How one can access online archive calendar of other user?

We have two users User A and User B. User A have editor level access to User B's Calendar. User A is not able access online archive calendar of User B.

The current situation is User A is able to access the User B's calendar but not archived calendar as online archive is enabled for User B.

Is there any way that user A can access archived calendar of User B?

Please advise!

Give UserA full access to User B's mailbox

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/troubleshoot/profiles-and-accounts/troubleshoot-exchange-online-archive-mailbox-not-shown#resolution-method-3---verify-that-full-access-permission-is-correctly-granted

If a user needs full mailbox access to another user's primary and archive mailboxes, you must grant them the Full Access permission.

Hi @ManLi-7217

Agree with Andy on that in order for User A to access User B's online archive calendar, you would need to assign User A the full access permission to User B's mailbox:

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity "User B" -User "User A" -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All

After that, both the primary mailbox and the online archive mailbox of User B would show up in User A's Outlook client via automapping, so User A would be able to see the online archive calendar.

We have the following scenario:

A colleague from the reception has for a large circle of users calendar "Reviewer" permissions. Not full access permissions.

Recently, the online archives of the calendars of the users of the circle are displayed for the colleague from the reception under "My calendars".

Why are the online archives mapped automatically? Is there no way to access the online archives of colleagues' calendars without automapping? Furthermore, I don't understand why the online archives are automatically mapped with "Reviewer" permissions.

Without the automapping I don't know how to access the Online Archive calendars either. The calendar view of colleagues with many permissions becomes confusing due to this behavior.

Hi @MalteBttcher-5115,

Recently, the online archives of the calendars of the users of the circle are displayed for the colleague from the reception under "My calendars".

Is the "the colleague from the reception" able to see the other folders of the users of the circle?
As you mentioned and also to the best of my knowledge, we would need to give full access permission in order for a user to access another user's online archive folder via automapping, so have you tried verifying if the colleague has been granted the full access permission by accident?

 Get-MailboxPermission <MailboxIdentity> | where {$_.AccessRights -like 'Full*'} | Format-Table -Auto User,Deny,IsInherited,AccessRights

By the way, if the issue persists, you may also consider starting a new thread for further troubleshooting.

"Is the "the colleague from the reception" able to see the other folders of the users of the circle?" -> The user only has reviewer rights for the calendar, so he is able to open the calendar and the calender online archiv is automapped, without Fullaccess permissions.

"so have you tried verifying if the colleague has been granted the full access permission by accident?" Yes that is not the case.

Get-MailboxPermission <MailboxIdentity> | where {$_.AccessRights -like 'Full*'} | Format-Table -Auto User,Deny,IsInherited,AccessRights

  • "NT AUTHORITY\SELF" no other Users

Has anyone found a solution for the stale auto mapped online archive calendar even after removing the Full Access ?

on-prem you can remove the msExchDelegateListLink flag from the source mailbox in ADSIEDIT
Exchange online, add full permission back via powershell with the automapping set to false, then remove full access again.
