WSUS Huge Download Size

I've recently added the WSUS role to a test server for obvious reasons.
So far it's going well, but the download size seems too huge, 509GB right now.

I selected the Windows Server 2012 products and security updates as a class.
The only language I chose to have is English.
I unchecked express installer files.
I haven't approved any updates yet.
I used the server cleanup wizard

Even after synchronization and removing classes (which lead to the list of products and classes above ), I can't get the files to go down the 500GB mark at all.
I've seen a lot of others mention that they have about 100GB of total download which I guess would be a good size to get to.

What am I missing here?

@Omar-0064
Thanks for your posting on Q&A.

Could you mind to provide a screenshot of products and classifications in your environment to help me research further?

In fact, all the approved updates are downloaded into the content folder as the below picture:

All the approved updates which placed in the content folder are Binary update files. But the updates synced by WSUS server and shown on the WSUS console are metadata. All the metadata are stored on the database. Metadata are used to describes each update.

In addition, please help to confirm whether you have enabled the Automatic Approvals rules:

I'd suggest starting fresh - you've just installed it and are having issues.

Then follow my guide on How to Setup, Manage, and Maintain WSUS. It will help you get your environment setup and prevent this problem from happening. It will also teach you how to manage WSUS properly so that you can keep a slim WSUS installation that doesn't get blown out of proportion.
