Looking to schedule auto restore from backup

On a remote dedicated server machine I am running Windows Server 2019 and have created a backup to be able to restore in case I want . I need to make some changes on that machine and because I might lose connection I wish to create a task schedule to auto restore the server automatically to a prior state from that backup file . E.g. in two hours from now . how can I do that?

Hi,

Thanks for posting on our forum!

Based on your demands, currently I am afraid that we do not offer any tools for doing schedule restore for Windows Server 2019. We do offer schedule backup and restore through Windows server backup, while you can only specify restore date through the recovery function in Windows server backup. Here is an article discussing how to operate Windows server backup:

Besides, you can set up schedule restore through creating a new task in Computer Management>> Task Scheduler. However, you need to write a program or script for restoring from your backup first:

In this case, I may suggest you to ask for customized script from some third-party tools. And you are encouraged to post your demand on Feedback website:

Thanks for your understanding and support!

Thank you for your suggestions! I was looking at the "create basic task wizard" but have no knowledge how to create a script to run through that . When you say third-party tools do you have any suggestions?

It seems strange to me that Microsoft hasn't thought to allow such an option (without having the user creating a script)

Especially for situations like mine (I am sure other people have found themselves in a similar position).

Anyone who would be able to help with such a script, I would be grateful!

Hi,

You can go to some tech amateur communities for help, there usually are pros posting their scripts on these websites, and you can post your demand on the websites for help as well. Besides, you can go to Github.com for help:
