Users recently started complaining about seeing 'page is checked out to' messages at the top of SharePoint aspx pages. These pages are indeed checked out, but the users have Read access which iirc should NOT be showing that notification. This is a SharePoint 2016 on-prem farm.
Two different libraries on the same web application (different sites)
Both libraries have aspx pages that users access
Library A - Read Only users see the page which is checked out but without banner.
Library B - Read Only users see the page which is checked and see a yellow banner saying Status: Checked out to <checked out user>
Which browser is used does not change the results
Permissions on both libraries are exactly the same
A file being in a checked out state has no bearing on a user that only has Read access. I'm used to it not showing up. I may be having a brain fart, but I don't recall, can't find, and haven't been able to find on the interwebs, any setting that would have the presentation of that field show for a user on one page, but not the other.
