Logic App: Why does SharePoint file properties Trigger not work for files Moved into a library?

I have a Logic App using the SharePoint trigger "When a file is created (properties only)". It does not seem to fire when a file is MOVED into the library from another SharePoint library, or from a user's OneDrive.

Is there a different event for new files that were MOVED into a library?

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A! Thanks for posting the question.

Looking into the document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/business-apps/power-automate/sharepoint-connector-actions-triggers#move-files-and-flow-runs these actions are not triggered.

Move files and flow runs
When you move one or more files from one document library to another, the original file is moved from the source library to the destination library. Moving the file does not alter any custom metadata, including when the file was created and modified. Hence, this action does not trigger any flows for those file updates associated in the library where it was moved.

Syncing files to your OneDrive for business and SharePoint document libraries
When users sync one or more files from one document library to another, the original file is moved (synced) from your client to the destination library. Syncing the file will not alter any custom metadata including when the file was created and modified. Hence, this action will not trigger any flows for those file syncs in that library or in your OneDrive for business.

I hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

Thank you. I think this explains it. I need to do some more testing....as we have found that drag and drop into the browser view of the library DOES trigger the New File event. Perhaps this is not registered as a 'move' when dragging from sync'd libraries in Windows Explorer. I want to do one more test to verify that happens when the SOURCE is another SharePoint library / OneDrive.

One more question: will file rename trigger as a 'mofidied' event?

Hi @LenCardinalCCSI-5391

Yes, drag and drop into the browser is the same creating the new file and it will trigger the create event. Can you please post a new question so it's easy to search for others having the same question.
