Device is show only with a number Maschine ID in Intune console

Hi all,

in our current environment (SCCM current branch, Azure Hybrid Join (with SCP) and Intune Release 2105) we are move clients via co-management into Intune. In the past everything is working as aspected. But now we see in AdminCenter as also in Azure AD the client with only with there maschineID and daily date instead of the DeviceName like abcd123.
Currently I could not solve this name into the original client name. In the AAD console HybridJoin should successful and in Azure Connector unter health are nor error pronounce.
Does anyone have also this error ? Any help are highly welcome.

@Carlicht Thanks for posting in our Q&A.
In this situation, we recommend to wait or use sync manually to confirm whether the device details display is normal. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Jarvis,

just start to check what happens if I start a sync . the device run under Windows 10 from 1709 until the last version. How could I sync many clients at one moment?

Thanks for your contribution

@Carlicht Thanks for your reply.
Currently Intune portal only support to sync one device at a time, we can try to sync one device to check if it can display more details which we want under the device catalog. If it is effective, let's try the next step. I'm always ready to support here and will try my best to feedback.

Hi Jarvis,

thanks for your quick feedback. What I not understand and hopefully you could explain it (a little bit more) why the devices are listen in Azure Ad and Admin Center with the AAD directory ID? What could be the reason and could I do something to avoid this alrerady in a earlier step?

regards

@Carlicht Are you currently trying to sync a device? Did you make it? For the question “why the devices are listen in Azure Ad and Admin Center with the AAD directory ID”, I don’t quite understand it. It would be better if we could provide some specific details and screenshots. Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Jarvis,

until now the clients showing with the Azure AD Device ID instead of the Clientname are growing. After some days of searching I found this information:

The devices with the AAD device ID sometimes changed by Intune to the devicename. I see this in the AuditLog in AAD Portal, after an AAD connector full scan run. The same device changed during the next full scan run, back from the devicename to the AAD DeviceID.

The MDM Authority is set to Intune. Current Service release is 2105.

regards

@Carlicht Given this situation, with the limitation of Q&A, currently I cannot reproduce your problem and fix it. It is better to create an online support ticket to handle this issue. It is free. Here is the online support link and hope it will be resolved as soon as possible.
