Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL and PBI safe connection

What is the best way to have Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL db without a public IP?
And how would PBI connect to it? Do you need a data gateway?
Is it using a managed workspace virtual network?
Read a lot of papers... would appreciate some guidance.

ok, great. so just double checking that I got this right.
In order to have to have Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL db without a public IP, high level overview steps are:

create a synapse managed workspace virtual network

create private links

create a data gateway
