RDP Is Unresponsive When Type Cover is Closed

When remote connecting to my ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 with the type cover lid closed, the connection is made but the host doesn't seem to recognize the client cursor. When the lid is open, I can click on things and move Windows - everything works fine. Closing the lid again locks out cursor functionality. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

(BTW, I copied this question from https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_continuum/rdp-is-unresponsive-when-type-cover-is-closed/d8b89626-5b2b-4db3-8743-e7176c91c23e, and - quite annoyingly - that one is closed with a request for the user to ask his question elsewhere, and there's no follow-up.)

Hello,

In my case the following setting solved the issue:

  1. Power buttons and lid close action = Do nothing

  2. Power OptionsChange plan settingsChange advanced power settings - PCI ExpressLink state power managementon battery = off

When setting it this way RDP stays stable when you close the lid regardless if laptop is running on battery or power supply

Hi @LeilaKong-MSFT ,

It turned out, that the issue is that the power was not plugged in properly. When it's not charing, RDP gets stopped. When it's charging, it restores. Thanks for help anyway.

Hi @LeilaKong-MSFT ,

My settings for "When I close the lid:" is "Do nothing" and "Do nothing" for "On battery" and "Plugged in" respectively.
