disk drive missing snapshot

Hello,

Background:
Vmware Server (Windows 2012 R2 Standard) + SQL Server
Daily snapshot with Quiesce option (I know it is not recommended, especially on the server with SQL Server).

Problem:
Drive D: extended by 1GB to identify disk and then by 99GB at VMware level.
Checked in diskmanagent the 100 GB, the disk was extended and appeared "Error: Invalid Parameter when trying to extend volume" + Event ID 55.
After restarting the server, drive D: became RAW.

Solution:
Tesdisk and then chkdsk / f D: (Drive recovered its NTFS format).

Real problem:
The snapshots are taken with veritas and the problem found was that on April 11 the all vmdk + drives C: D: and E: appeared in the report, but the following snapshots, from April 12 onwards, all the VMDKs appeared but only drives C: and E:
Since April 12, there are no event ID 55 or another that will indicate problems with the disk drives, only the typical events 50, 57, 137, 140, 157 appear.

OBS: All disks are in the same datastore.

Has someone else had this problem?

Hi,

Does the snapshot created from VMWare level, or shadows created on windows volume level?

If the snapshot is created from VMWare level, it's recommended to turn to VMWare forum for better help. Since we are not familiar with VMWare products. Thanks for your understanding.

Best Regards,
Anne
