SQL2008 Server R2 License/Product Key availability

I need SQL 2008 Server R2 Installation package with valid product key. Is it possible that I purchase SQL Server 2016 Standard edition software and use the product key for 2008 R2 installation.

    Hi,

    You cannot use a SQL Server 2016 product key for SQL Server 2008 R2, you would need a SQL Server 2008 R2 product key to activate it.

    Also note that SQL Server 2008 & SQL Server 2008 R2 are no longer supported.

    SQL Server 2008 R2 support ended on 7/9/2019. I would recommend using a newer version.
