Azure Synapse Analytics vs Azure Analysis Service

Does azure-synapse-analytics contain data semantic layer?
or would we need Azure Analisys Service for that?
Not clear for me if this is something that we need to add to our Architecture in order to offer meaningful data to the business people working on Synapse
