Upgrading Windows 2003 R2 for .NET and Windows Management Frameworks

Hi Community,

For Windows Server 2003 R2:
1) Can we upgrade it to 4.6 version of .NET Framework?
2) Can we ugprade it to 5.1 version of Windows Management Framework?

We are trying to install Azure Arc agent and minimum requirements are 4.6 and 5.1.

Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,
Donald

Hi @CollinsDonald-2619,

1) Can we upgrade it to 4.6 version of .NET Framework?

Unfortunately .NET Framework 4.6 is not supported on Windows Server 2003 R2 (check the "Supported Operating Systems over HERE for more info).

2) Can we upgrade it to 5.1 version of Windows Management Framework?

Unfortunately the Windows Management Framework (WMF) 5.1 is also not supported on Windows Server 2003 R2 (check HERE for more info).

This gives a good indication that you should strive to upgrade your old Windows Server 2003 R2 servers :)

Hi Leon, Thank you for your quick reply and the link to the supported systems. We figured 2003 was not supported for 4.6 .NET and WMF 5.1 but wanted to be sure as it is such an old system. It holds clinical data so it will probably remain as is until it's service in the study is over next year.
Thanks again.
Best Regards,
Donald

Hi,
LeonLaude has done a great answer.
Windows Server 2003 R2 is too old that the content you requested has already retired.

We recommend that you upgrade to a newer version as soon as possible.
Hope above information can help you.
