Hi @VVenky-9907,

Did you mean that the SQL server whether need standard license if you install SQL server standard edition in development server? If that, the answer is Yes. You need SQL server standard license.

SQL server Express and developer edition do not need license to them. But SQL server standard edition need SQL standard license, SQL server enterprise edition need SQL enterprise license.

If I misunderstood you issue, please let me know.

For detailed information about the license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Or you can go to Volume Licensing Service Center support. Please choose region/language and choose to call or have web.

I believe yes, you need license because you should Developer Edition in Development.

Please check with Microsoft.

And to clarify, when Hafeez says "check with Microsoft", he means "talk to your local representative" . There is also a US number you can call 9:00-18:00 Pacific Time. This forum is for technical questions, and licensing is a legal matter.
