Session 3842 has been disconnected, reason code 2147500036

Hello Team,

UiPath robot service is not able to create an interactive windows session on the server and we have noticed the below two errors in the terminal services logs. The issue is intermittent. Can you let me know under what circumstances do we get this error? Also, please let me know if any additional logs are required from our end.

Hello @Koushiktatikondawar-1031 ,

Thanks for your query.

It is an expected error since UiPath robots cannot work with minimized RDPs. Since, RDPs are virtual environment robots use visual recognition instead of the usual UI objects. I would suggest that you simply do not minimize your RDP window during execution, although if it is absolutely necessary that you must minimize the window you can try these steps: https://docs.uipath.com/robot/docs/executing-tasks-in-a-minimized-rdp-window

I wold also suggest that you create a restore point and a back up of your files before doing the above mentioned steps. Although, I’m sure that you won’t run into any problems with it, I still consider it best practice to save everything before making any change to your registry. Up to you though.

Now, if you’re still experiencing this issue even though your RDP session is not minimized then I would suggest making some settings change to your robot via Orchestrator. Steps: Go to Orchestrator > Management > Specific robot to be used > Edit > Settings > Enable “login to console” and Set it to ‘NO’ > Change the resolution settings and use the necessary dimensions from your RDP.

Hello @LeilaKong-MSFT ,

Thank you for looking into this. Just to give some context, we are using Unattended robots and the bot throws the error "Could not start executor. A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070520) RemoteException wrapping System.Exception: Could not start executor."

Below are my responses to your reply and also some additional details regarding the issue:

  • Customer is using unattended robots, so the rdp minimized issue won't come into the picture. Even if the rdp was minimized prior to the bot getting triggered from the orchestrator, the robot service will be able to start the session by itself and leave the session in the state it was found. Ideally, the bot shouldn't throw any error.

  • The login to console settings is already set the same as you mentioned.

  • The issue is intermittent.

  • once the issue occurs, all the subsequent queued jobs fail with the same error.

  • Single robot configured on the server

  • Does the issue occur on a specific server or on all the servers? Customer's response - I’ve only seen this issue on our production robot server.

  • Can you manually login into the server after the first job fails and check if there are any pop-ups or warnings? Yes I can log in, no pop ups appears.

  • Have collected application event logs and operational terminalservices logs.

Steps recommended to the customer (we haven't got any response on their outcomes):

  • The machine might be low on resources and does not create the session in time. Try to increase the timeout to 180 secs: https://forum.uipath.com/t/config-rdp-timeout-to-create-user-session/10261

  • I have noticed many logs corresponding to explorer.exe app crash in the application event logs. This can also cause a resource crunch on the server and lead to the robot session not getting created. Can you check with your server admin team the reason for these frequent crashes and a fix for the same?

What I need from Microsoft is whether the disconnect reason codes mentioned in the screenshots shared in the ticket description carry any meaning or significance for us to investigate further.

There is no information that I could find online regarding these disconnect codes. If there is any comprehensive guide detailing all the disconnect reason codes and their reason for occurrences, it would be awesome.

Thank you for your help again.
