[SOLVED] Exchange 2019 / Outlook Unknown Error when forwarding meeting

Hello,

Users are all unable to forward meetings. It does not matter if they're reoccuring or single meetings. Does not matter if they're the senders or not. Same issue persists when running Outlook in safe mode.

We've tried redoing the mail profile in Control Panel.

Outlook does not provide any details, it just prompts "Unknown Error" ("Okänt fel" Swedish) when pressing send.

Our Exchange Server is running Exchange 2019 latest CU.

Users are running the latest Outlook client. For example, mine is Version 2105 (version 14026.20246 click-and-run)

Hi @EmilGustafsson-1189

Did the issue happen on all meetings? Including the newly created ones.

Please try with OWA to see if you are able to forward the meetings.
If not either, are there any detailed error messages?

Hello,

Yes, it occurs old mettings, new meetings and reoccuring meetings, both the entire series and just a single one and "single / regular" mettings.

Just tried, and works indeed in OWA but not in the client with the same meeting. So this is a company wide Outlook problem.

Could it possibly be tied to this:

Hi,

Sorry I am not quite sure if the issue has something to do with this known issue: "The properties of the message have been changed" prompt when forwarding/replying in Outlook
Here is also a thread discussing this known issue: "The properties of the message have been changed" prompt when forwarding/replying in Outlook
Some community members did mention they were using the same version(14026.20246 Click-to-Run).

Did the issue occur after you updated the Outlook version?
You may try updating to the latest version to see if it can get rid of the issue.

I rolled my Outlook 2019 back to 2103 build 13901.20462 because of the Auto Complete issue, and I cannot forward any meetings either, but it works in OWA, so it is definitely an Outlook issue. We are running Exchange 2013 on prem.

Just got an update to my Outlook/Office, without running inside build.

New Build number: Version 2105 ( Version 14026.20308 )

Forwarding meeting now works!

I can also confirm that this issue is solved: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/-the-properties-of-the-message-have-been-changed-prompt-when-forwarding-replying-in-outlook-c42f5eec-382e-4521-bee4-72f7625460db?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

So I assume they were tied together @KaelYao-MSFT

Ask users to update office or trigger an update via GPO / PS and you should be good.

I've confirmed with multiple workstations in my environment that it works.

Wow i am excited, thanks MS for the quick fix.
On all test computers with Office 2019 and 2016 the function works again.
Now it's just a matter of rolling out ;-)

Thanks for sharing but unfortunately not working for us.
After updating to the latest Version (in our case: 14026.20294 - 64bit) all of our meetings will be forwarded as Outlook Elements.

Are you using F-Secure Anti Virus?

Hello @SennertPeter-9074

Glad to hear I'm not alone, makes me think it's indeed an Office bug again - but sorry you're experiencing it too.

We're not running F-Secure or any other anti-virus, no.

The post below stated to re-create your profile, and I tested it, and it works

New Profile doesn't work.
I just tested it on Outlook Version 2105 (version 14026.20246 click-and-run) and the issue still persists. Exchange 2016 has the latest CU.
My main problem is, that nothing changed within the last two weeks (no Exchange Update, no Client Update), but suddenly Outlook can't forward meetings anymore.

Same Problem here.
Re-creating profiles for >500 User - not a good Idea.

It really sucks - Updates clearly aren't tested well enough because many times everything works awful after update.

Our outlook version is 16.0.14026.20202
We have a mix of users experiencing the problem and not experiencing the problem. All of these users are running the same version
Recreating the profile for users that have the problem does not appear to be a working solution for us.

When forwarding the meeting we are also prompted with the 'Unknown Error'...

Hello,
same problem here, creating new profile didn´t help, we´re using o365 with actual build (2105) on Exchange Server 2016 CU19

Solutions are current only go back to Realease Version 2101 (Build 13628.20448) (Problem exist since March Update 2102) or enable cached mode.
Please fix it

Hello folks,

we have the same problem with forwarding meeting requests.

we are running an Exchange Server 2013 CU23 and the error messages occur on clients with Outlook version 2016 and 2019.

A test with 3 newly installed machines with Outlook 2013,2016 and 2019 respectively and three new user accounts showed
that the forwarding only worked with the 2013 Outlook client. Forwarding via OWA also works without any problems.

I actually thought that it was related to our old Exchange 2013 and have already made me an offer of Exchange 2019.
However, this thread makes me wonder if these problems also occur with the newer versions of Exchange.

I hope for a solution soon.

many greetings
Chris

We also started seeing this. Im assuming an office update caused it.

Our setup is with an on premise exchange 2016 server and only with office 365 clients. All others work just fine.

Awaiting an update to fix this! Thank you!
