SCOM 2019 : changed behaviour, now a Maintenance mode will close open alerts automatically

Hi,

I recently discovered a strange behaviour with SCOM 2019 that i wanted to share.

When in SCOM 2012 till 2016 a target had an open alert and it was put into maintenance mode the alert was keeping the open status. Now it looks like this behaviour is changed in SCOM 2019 (UR0-UR3) . When in SCOM 2019 a target with an open alert is put into maintenance mode the alert will be closed too.
This causes any connected ticketing system to close the ticket or even worse recreate the ticket again because when the maintenance mode ends the monitor will most of the time become unhealthy again and will generate a NEW! alert and so triggering the ticketing system again.

Does anybody see this behaviour change too ?

I think this addressed in UR3

Hi,
We have SCOM 2019UR3 and this behaviour is still present, it's very frustrating.

When an object is put into maintenance mode, all workflows that are targeted against that object are suspended during that specific interval.
As such, the monitor is changed into unmonitored state and its corresponding alert is closed when the alert setting is automatically resolve the alert when the monitor returns to a healthily state.

Hi Roger,

Thanks to the reply. But this is not the behaviour i pointed to. Yes i know what happens when a object goes into MM but the behaviour is changed in SCOM 2019 if you compare it to for example SCOM 2016 so that 2019 now also closes the alert, in SCOM 2016 the Alert was still having the state NEW. It looks like due to that the monitor is put into the uninitialized state the system is now autoclosing the alerts too .....

after further investigation, SCOM 2016 will close the alert after entity exit maintenance mode and then recreate a new ones when the issue is not resolve.
SCOM 2019 will close the alert when entity enter into maintenance mode and then create a new ones when the issue is not resolve after maintenance mode.

The problem should only exist with monitor alarms.
Alarms of a rule are usually not closed.
