Windows Server 2003 based VM with Attendance Software installed keeps having issue when rebooted

Dear Community,

We have a Windows Server 2003 based VM with Attendance Software installed. The problem is that whenever the Host machine(Windows Server 2012 R2) gets rebooted due to power issue the guest machine also gets rebooted and then the application config.ini file gets updated, upon which the software stops working. As the config.ini file is connected with thwie database.
The software company says that it happens due to reboot and then they have to reconnect the config file with their database again.

I am attaching the screenshot.

Server 2003 is long out of support, better to upgrade the OS to a supported one. As to the Attendance Software, the developer will be your best resource to trouble shoot.

The developer says that it's vm issue not their software.

You may have to script some countermeasure to put the file back in place. Windows does not control this.

The problem is that whenever the Host machine(Windows Server 2012 R2) gets rebooted due to power issue

Go out and purchase a UPS system for the 2012 host so that a brief power interrupt does not force either machine to shut down. For extended power outages, you should be able to use the UPS software to implement a graceful shutdown of the VM before the batteries fully discharge.

The only other alternative is to ask that software company for a program/script that can be run at the startup of the 2003 VM that would automatically fix the config file when a power outage occurred.
