Can we grant permission to a Yammer community using mail enabled distribution list

I have created 5 Yammer communities, and 5 office 365 mail enabled distribution lists. so can i grant the Yammer communities' user permissions using the Office 365 distribution list instead of manually adding the users to the Yammer communities ?

Hi @johnjohn-0472,

Please note that Yammer is currently not supported in the Q&A forums, the supported products are listed over here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/products (more to be added later on).

You may ask the experts in the dedicated Yammer forum over here:

@LeonLaude thanks for the reply, but i did not understand your point, you mean Yammer is not longer supported by Microsoft ? or it is just not included in this forum?
Thanks

Yammer is not yet supported on this Microsoft Q&A platform/forum, for questions related to Yammer you can ask in the above mentioned forums, you'll likely receive better support there :-)

Hi,

I had the same question month ago.
It seems it is no longer possible.

However, it was not recommended :
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_yammer-mso_o365app-mso_o365b/add-a-mail-distribution-list-directly-to-a-yammer/b23808df-2af1-48d4-911c-248f18147c6a

I suggest you to stop using distribution list which have lower utility in O365. You should replace them by Teams or O365 group.

Otherwise you can also create a dynamic yammer group which rule will cover all the member of your list ?

@AlainLachendrowiecz-1286 but i do not want to create office 365 groups, as it will result in creating separate team sites, which we do not want at this stage, we want to keep SharePoint simple and have only one site as first stage,, we do not want to have separate sites for each of the 5 offices we have..

So in this case i need to invite the users manually inside yammer (or using import csv file), and if new users join our company then i need to add them to the related yammer community .. is this correct?

You should try dynamics groups.
You can set a rule on a yammer group, like 'every user which filed services = "IT"'
You can set a rule on most of your user's attributes, even on extensionAttribute.

@AlainLachendrowiecz-1286 thanks for the reply, but currently we do not have a subscription for Azure, we only have subscription on office 365, as to be able to create dynamic groups i need to login to azure is this correct?
