Will modifying resource allocation break windows license in a VM?

Hi,

I'm pondering the possibility of building a workstation running Linux as base OS but having Windows 10 Pro on top in a Virtual Machine. But since I've heard that the Windows license is tied to the hardware, I'm wondering what would happen if I change the number of allocated cores for example if I wanted to run some heavier tasks. Would Windows consider this to be a "new" PC and thus become unlicensed? Or does Windows only note the CPU brand and disregard allocated cores for the license? That would be nice.

Regards,
