Scheduled Data Collection sets are not running

Hey,

I have used in past a data collection for many different issues. At the moment, when scheduling the collector, that seems to not starting.

I have done some troubleshooting and noticed that the Task, which is linked to the data collector, is starting:

If I start the collection manually, then that does what it is asked to do.

I'm currently having that issue on 1909 Win10 devices.
Could it be so, that Microsoft has forgot this old good tool and it has been not part of the tests?

Hi,

Thanks for posting on our forum!

Based on your description, I have found a blog which solved a similar issue with yours. You can firstly try the resolution in that blog, to see if your issue can be solved:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fe5298c2-5d3f-414f-854d-4815670fc990/task-scheduler-cant-start-a-user-defined-data-collector-on-windows-10?forum=win10itprogeneral

Besides, after my research, starting in Windows 10 version 1703 and Windows Server 1703, the way that scheduled tasks are automatically created for data collector sets was changed. Because of the change, the actions for these tasks aren't created correctly. This issue is fixed in Windows 10, version 2004 and later versions and in Windows Server, version 2004 and later versions. In this case, you can also try to update your 1909 version to 2004. Here is a public document describes the resolution and more details about this issue:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/performance/user-defined-dcs-doesnt-run-as-scheduled

Thanks for your support!

BR,
Joan

Thank you @jiayaozhu-MSFT

Summer takes some time, but now I was able to test that and see that this solved the issue: Workaround for User Defined Collections

Now the challenge is, how to get it fixed on multiple servers. But I asked that on PowerShell forum.
