I have activated the trial of the premium version of azure ad but when I use a premium feature it appears that it is not activated then I click on activate and it appears that it has already been activated
Is it possible that you have a trial version of the Premium P2 license activated already? If that is the case, you will need to cancel that first before activating the new one.
To do this, you will need to create a new admin account on the Azure AD (should not be a personal account), give this account admin permissions, and then go to the Microsoft 365 admin page to cancel your trial license. https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/subscriptions
