Tables in Word documents stored on Teams lose their repeated headers

I have Word documents that we are working on in Teams. The document template has a table style that used for most tables, and this is set to have the header row repeat. Sometimes, at some stage, a document will stop honouring this attribute. When you close and open the document, none of the tables have repeating headers. If you click on them and apply the table style again it's fine, but close the doc and open again and they're once again not repeating.

I believe this is a Teams/SharePoint issue and I've had it on both platforms (SP and Teams environments) for years. I don't get this issue working off a local copy or a server.

Could you share a picture to show the header row repeat feature?

I will reproduce the steps and give some suggestions if possible after understand your words. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Sharon,

This is a screenshot of the table style options, where the "repeat header" is no longer ticked: it is a black square. I've ticked it again, the tables all have repeating headers again, and closed the document. I opened it again and it's still fine, however I will report back what the case is when someone else goes in an edits it. These things always seem to happen when multiple people edit the same file.

The online versions are very limited compared to the full version of Word/Office that you can install on a Windows or Mac computer.

In Teams, you can post feedback for Microsoft through Help > Feedback.

Correct, which is why I do not use them. My issue when using the desktop version of Word with files stored on Teams.

@AndrewB-7069,
I reproduce your steps and the result is the same. Header repeat feature only works when user open this word file in desktop.
I will search more information of this problem. Any update, I will share with you as soon as possible.

I'm not sure I've explained the issue properly.

In my template, the table style is set so that the header row repeats at the start of each page. The header row is also formatted to have a thick line underneath it.

The template is on my OneDrive, a document based on it is in Teams. Today when I opened the document, the tables, which have that style, do not have their repeating headers, and they do not have the line under the first row either.

I checked the table style definition, and it has the line and also the attribute to repeat the header. When I click inside the table, the style is highlighted to show it has been applied.

If I click on the table style to reapply it, the line reappears and the header starts repeating again. Why is it losing the attributes between closing and opening?

@AndrewB-7069,
Yes, I understand your problem.
I tested in my lab and open the word document in Teams client, in the browser(office online), in desktop app. And I find that this problem exists in Teams client and office online.
So, we classify this problem as office online scope. Hope I explain clearly.
