Microsoft Teams - adding an overview image in your files

Hello, I am wondering if I can add an overview image in the files section of Microsoft teams?
I have a 'contents page' like graph image that I would like to display before users open each of the groups under the team and the files section... I guess on the posts page? please see my attachment.

Hi @AndreaDavey-1306

Do you mean you want to create file directory guidance in your Teams?

If you have such contents already, you could directly post it here in each channel by clicking New conversations.

Hi @JimmyYang-MSFT

Yes file directory but I have it as an image.

So start a new conversation in the posts tab for each channel and I will be able to 'post' the image which will remain as an overview whenever someone first clicks on the channel?

Is there a way to do this for the team overall instead of each individual channel?

Thanks.

You could use the general channel as your guidance of file in your Team. Make sure that only Teams owner have the permission to post the important things or descriptions in general channel.

Hi @AndreaDavey-1306, I'm not completely sure that I understood correctly. Is it an image of the folder structure, so users can see it at glance before navigating through it?

If that is the case, if I may give you my opinion, an image might be not ideal, as you will have to modify it and republish every time that your folder structure changes, which will be more maintenance work for you. Still, if this is the best approach for your situation, you might:

  1. Use @JimmyYang-MSFT solution.

  2. Create a Wiki tab (titled 'file directory'). There, you can paste your image on top, and place a hyperlink to the files tab below that.

  3. Alternatively, you might want to create a SharePoint page behind your Team, where you could graphically display big "buttons" that linked to each part of your file directory. You could then easily put that page as a tab in your preferred channel(s).

In any case, I'd encourage users to become more proficient at using the search/filter in Teams to access files, instead of browsing through complex folder structures.

Hope that helps!
