Windows 10 20H2 Feature update question

Hi,

Currently, we have a mix of Windows 10 1709, 1809, 1903 and 1909 client machines and want to update to Windows 10 20H2. I am testing the Windows 10 20H2 Feature Update from ConfigMgr. MS article for Windows 10 20H2 had mentioned that it can be installed on 1909 or earlier versions of Windows. So, I tried to deploy 20H2 feature update to a Windows 10 1709 machine. But the update failed multiple times. Looking into update details, affected products is given as Windows 10 version 1903 or later (attached screenshot). So, I understand that a Windows 10 1709 cannot be directly updated to 20H2 using Feature Update. Is this understanding right ?

I think your understanding is right.

We need at least SCCM 2006 in order to support it as a Windows 10 client.

Besides, according to your client scenario, use Windows 10 Servicing or Task Sequence Upgrade should be more suitable, look at this similar case, the user here choose Windows 10 Servicing for upgrade.

Yes the version of SCCM used is 2006 with updated ADK as well.

Thank you for sharing the similar case. Windows 10 servicing also needs feature update so in the case of 1709 I think we cant go with the servicing plan but with an IPU TS. Thank you for the inputs.
